For the second year running, we took part in Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event.

Hosting our own ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, many of our resident members and staff came together for some delicious coffee and cake, and collectively raised almost £130 for this very worthy cause.

Not only is our community working innovatively within the sensor and IoT field, their creativity shone throughout the impressive spread of sweet – and savoury – snacks that were made specifically for the occasion.

Particularly popular ‘Bake Off’ entries included Saag Paneer bites, Chocolate Brownies, Cornish Pasties, Lemon Drizzle slices and a classic Victoria Sponge. The overall ‘Star Baker’ award however went to Natalia Vaccaro for her traditional Irish Fifteens.

There was also fierce competition for the top spots in our two cake-inspired games, which were won by Patrick Fenner from Defproc Engineering (for dunking his biscuit sticker most centrally in the poster cuppa) and our very own Louise Goodman (who was the closest to correctly guessing how many berries there were in the poster pie)!

We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this event, by making (or faking!) bake-off entries and donating their time and money to help Macmillan continue to provide valuable support to those affected by cancer.

If you were unable to attend our Coffee Morning but would still like to make a donation, you can do so here.
