Sensor City has partnered with leading international software company, Altium, to give SMEs access to specialist design software that will rapidly prototype their innovations and reduce time to market.
The sponsorship, which further cements Sensor City’s position as a global hub for sensor technology while improving design productivity and innovation capabilities of businesses in the Liverpool City Region, will provide access to 100 Altium Designer’s On-Demand licenses and £750,000 worth of Vault add-on support.
These licenses will be used for commercial PCB design and in-house training and will be supplied to new and existing companies working within the building. This will be extremely beneficial in providing a flexible, streamlined approach to prototyping and printed circuit board design within Sensor City.
Considered as the best printed circuit board design software on the market, Altium’s Designer software provides industry-leading schematic capture, layout and prototyping tools to develop next-generation high-performance electronics. Its easy-to-use interface enables businesses to achieve the highest productivity possible, while completing large, complete designs quickly and accurately.
The sponsorship will also see Sensor City bring 100 Altium Vault add-on software license subscriptions worth £750,000 to benefit its community of SMEs. A distinct design solution in its own right, Altium Vault provides secure storage solutions and security integrity for data generated from a board design and models, while also enabling the re-release of data as distinctly separate revisions – essentially tracking design changes over time without overwriting any previously released data.
Introducing Altium Designer and Vault technology will bolster Sensor City’s laboratory offering, including the Software Design Suite, providing the resource required for businesses to increase design efficiency when creating printed circuit boards and prototypes.
Discussing the new partnership, Alison Mitchell, executive director of Sensor City said: “Working with a big international organisation like Altium is fantastic and will really benefit Sensor City’s internal offering, while also providing local SMEs with technologically advanced design solutions.”
John Kenny, head of engineering at Sensor City added: “Altium Designer and Vault software are essential tools for electronic circuit prototyping and commercial product development. Being able to use this high-end software alongside our PCB fabrication facilities will allow us to design and fabricate complex electronics as a fully integrated service.”
“Our vision at Altium is to enable engineers and system designers to break down barriers to innovation and technological advancement by providing them with easy access to the best possible design solutions,” says Chris Potts, senior marketing manager. “Sensor City inspires collaboration and innovation, and our partnership will help them continue in their goal to make Liverpool a global hub for sensor technologies.”
