Making an Impact is an annual programme of events run by the University of Liverpool, which aims to provide rich, varied and high-quality development opportunities for researchers, academics and research-related professional services staff at all stages of their career.

Making an Impact 2020 took place between 1st and 19th June, and we were pleased to take part once again – this time in a completely digital format.

The aim of the programme was to help develop effective ways of fostering research impact, skills and knowledge.

Sensor City was proud to have been presented with a Gold Award for our engagement with, promotion of and contributions to Making an Impact 2020.

The packed digital agenda included workshops, interviews and presentations, as well as supporting materials and resources, including our virtual tour.

The virtual tour allowed participants to navigate their way around our innovation hub, discovering more about the creative R&D being undertaken by our resident customers and reading about the innovative rapid prototyping and hybrid engineering projects that our lab team are delivering.

The virtual tour supported a number of the Making an Impact 2020 themes, including research experience outside of academia, knowledge exchange and collaboration.

The rapid changes in the professional landscape, along with the state of isolation that many were working in, meant that it was more important than ever to stay connected, and to learn from one another.

All resources and materials remain freely available now that the series has finished.
